INFORMATION REVOLUTION
The information revolution that had so much impact on me was the fourth information revolution, Entertainment. This revolution paved way to the things that we are enjoying right now. For me, this enabled the people to enjoy, have fun and have a source of recreation. This information revolution happened mainly because the people need to escape from reality. They need to be entertained and have something fun to do amidst all the troubles they are encountering in their hectic and exhausting lives.
Although their source of entertainment was just simple to what we have now, those kinds of things are enough to make them happy. Those little and simple efforts had a long lasting effect because we benefited from it now. The difference is that our sources of entertainment right now are improved versions of what they had during those times. In other words, their entertainment was the grandfathers of ours. For example, from their tabloids came our segmentized magazines that we take pleasure in reading right now.
And if mot for the efforts of Thomas Young, Leon Scott, Charles Cros and Thomas Edison, we will not be enjoying recorded music right now. We will not be able to listen to the hits and music of our favorite artists. And if not for Emile Berliner, the discs he has invented would not evolve on what we use right now. I also thank the guy who put up the first commercial radio station, Frank Conrad. Because of him, we now enjoy listening to music on different stations without paying for anything except electricity. We cannot deny the fact that the radio is not only a source of amusement but also of reliable information as well.
I also am thankful for the development of photography. Because of it, we are able to access information not only through words, but also through the pictures that we see. It also permitted us to capture the important events not only in our personal lives but also the significant events of the nation and the whole world too.
The advance in movies was one of the things that I am most grateful for because I am such a movie addict. Through movies, we can learn a lo about life and reality and at the same time, escape from it as well.
These advancements were meant for our entertainment. But now, it is also serves as a source of living for a lot of people like artists, journalists, directors, writers, photographers and the like. We can benefit from it financially and at the same time, have fun on what you are doing.
